How To Install A Passap Duomatic 80 Racking Handle
Elaine asked in the comments,
Just found your Web site this morning and am so happy I just want to get started kniting this baby blanket as soon as I find out how to install the racking handle and how to put the deco on to the front bed. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank in advance. Elaine
The racking handle is easy to install. The only catch is you have to give it a good push at the end so it pops into the socket that shifts the beds back and forth. Follow my simple 9 step photo tutorial and you will be up and racking in no time.
Locate your Passap racking handle.
Hold it with the plastic clip up at the left end of the knitting machine as you face it.
Begin inserting handle. From the side you will see a metal bracket with a hole. Slide the racking handle through it.
Continue sliding the handle up to the racking gear mechanism.
You can’t see it in the pictures, but there is a slot in the gear holder. The metal tab on the handle slides into that opening. Rotate the handle until the tab fits in the slot.
Make sure the plastic guiding clip is upwards and resting in its slot. The handle freely pivots around this plastic clip. It moves the pointer on the front bed that tells you if you have racked to the left or right.
This is the tricky part. You need to pop the handle into the racking mechanism. You can either hold the knitting machine on the back side of the racking mechanism or…
…hold the machine at the back of the metal frame. With your right hand, push the racking handle straight in until you feel it pop.
Here is the racking handle before it is popped into place. Notice how much of the metal tab on the handle, just outside the racking mechanism, you can see.
Here the racking handle is set in properly. Notice how little of the metal tab on the handle is visible.
To remove the handle, simply reverse the steps. The hardest part is giving the handle enough of a tug to pop it out of the racking mechanism.
Make sure you pull straight. DO NOT wiggle the handle back and forth in an attempt to loosen it. It doesn’t loosen. You could damage the racking gears.
Once it pops out, it simply slides out of its track.

Hi, this is a great site.
I have recently purchased a Passap Duo 80 with a U-70 attachment, a four-way colour changer and a Deco Pattern attachment.
I have read the manual, all the instructions I can find, looked at various websites and on youtube, but I find I would still need someone to come along and show me the workings of this lovely machine.
I live in Harrow, UK, if there is anyone at all who would help me out I would really appreciate it. I am used to a Knitmaster 700 punchcard machine and find all this talk about pushers very confusing.
Thanks
